Format of This Kertas Model Bahasa Inggeris MPT4 2026

This practice paper follows the official English MPT4 format in full. Here’s the summary:

This paper has six parts: Part 1 to Part 6. Answer all questions. Suggested time: 75 minutes. The full answer scheme is provided at the end of this article.

Part 3 — Linear Text Comprehension (7 marks)

Kiki and the New Puppy

Kiki the cat lives happily with her owner, Mrs Wong. One day, Mrs Wong brings home a small puppy named Milo. Kiki feels upset because Mrs Wong spends a lot of time playing with Milo.

Kiki decides to hide Milo’s favourite ball under the sofa. Milo searches for it everywhere but cannot find it. He looks very sad and stops playing.

Mrs Wong notices Milo is quiet and asks Kiki, “Do you know where Milo’s ball is?” Kiki feels guilty and finally brings out the ball from under the sofa.

From that day, Kiki decides to share her toys with Milo. They play together every afternoon, and soon they become best friends. Mrs Wong is very happy to see them getting along well.

Part 1 (Objective): 1-A, 2-B, 3-C, 4-A, 5-B, 6-B, 7-C, 8-B, 9-B, 10-B

Part 2 (Objective): 11-B, 12-C, 13-B, 14-B, 15-C, 16-A

Part 3: 17-B, 18-B, 19-B, 20-B, 21-guilty, 22-sample answer: “Yes, because she learns to share her toys with Milo and becomes his friend.” (Other reasonable answers are accepted.)

Part 4 (sample answers): 23. “I want to be friends with Farah because she likes badminton and reading, so we can do many activities together.” 24. “Amir, because he cycles every week and keeps an active hobby of collecting stamps.” (Any answer with a valid, text-based reason is accepted — marked Analytically.)

Part 5: 25-umbrella, 26-gloves, 27-sunglasses, 28-helmet, 29-backpack, 30-toothbrush, 31-calendar, 32-raincoat

Part 6: There is no fixed answer. This part is marked Analytically based on: Content (relevant ideas with two clear reasons), Communicative Achievement (how well the message is delivered), Organisation (punctuation and paragraph structure), and Language (grammar and vocabulary accuracy). Tips for Answering This Practice Paper

  • Read each short text and passage carefully before answering Part 2, 3 and 4.
  • For Part 5, look closely at the number of blanks — it tells you how many letters the answer needs.
  • For Part 6, plan your two reasons before writing, and keep within the 40–50 word limit.
  • Check your spelling and punctuation after finishing each part.
  • Redo this practice paper after a few days to test memory and understanding, not memorised answers.
